JNDC's Work Placement Student Wins Regional Shell Step Award

JNDC′s Shell Step student who worked on solutions to improve conditions for aircraft constructors when building wings won a top place in this year′s WestFocus Shell Step awards ceremony on the 9th of September 2008.
Diane Elston who has completed her second year in Product and Furniture Design worked alongside engineering design company JNDC to develop the concept for a major aircraft manufacturer.

"My main project for JNDC was to come up with solutions for use when constructing new wings. The working environment within an aircraft wing is often uncomfortable to sit or lie down. It was my brief to come up with a product that could work in this environment and make it more comfortable for the workers."
The client has approved the product and has ordered 12 final production versions for testing with of ordering larger amounts. As a result of Diane′s project she was then offered a year′s placement at JNDC.
